2008
We have had a productive and exciting year.
The number of participants who went through our courses has doubled.
We ran 37 Job Magnet courses for 532 candidates. Over 60% were successful in finding work or starting small businesses.
We ran 15 Discovery/Partnership of Excellence courses for 356 participants.
These included all the staff, academic, ground and care givers for Sibonile School for the Blind.
We ran a course for matriculants of Alexander Education College and Sacred Heart College.
Members of the congregations of two churches enjoyed a day discovering their strengths
We partnered with Channel Ubuntu in their rural community work, taking the process to give confidence to their newly trained sales people.
Grateful thanks to our funders:
The New Settlers Foundation - R70 000
Lidonga - R20 000
Anglo American Chairman's Fund - R50 000
Channel Nomvula and Channel Ubuntu, who spent almost R100 000 funding courses
Rosebank Rotary fund four courses a year at the Alexander Campus of Central Johannesburg College.
A surprising R500 000 once off grant was awarded from the Oppenheimer Trust as part of their centenary celebrations. This will be invested in an endowment fund and give us much needed sustainability. We are very grateful
And what of 2009?
R100 000 from MTN to run courses and develop communities.
R50 000 from New Settlers Foundation
R10 000 from the Hulley Trust
R6000 from local school choirs!
The money has been spent on courses in Alexander, Soweto, Rietvallei, Katlehong. Everywhere we go we are oversubscribed. The funds are quickly put to good use and we are always looking for more funding.
We are very grateful for the financial support.
Our old friends Channel Ubuntu and Channel Nomvula are funding courses, as is Rosebank Rotary
If you are an individual in any of the areas in which we run courses and would like to attend a course, please contact us.
