ABOUT US

The Dependable Strengths Foundation is an accredited South African non-profit organisation committed to the simple belief that human potential cannot be unlocked in isolation. Meaningful work and personal agency begin when people understand their own excellence, speak it aloud without apology, and find spaces where their community affirms it.

Iterative Growth

Continually refining our practice on the ground so that it speaks directly to the socio-economic realities of South African life.

The Lineage: From Seattle to South African Soil

1928

The Global Genesis

Founded by Dr. Bernard Haldane, who proved that lasting career success comes from leaning into the motivated achievements you love doing, not from agonizing over weaknesses.

1998

Crossing the Ocean

When Dr. Bernard and Dr. Jean Haldane visited South Africa, they saw a country full of raw, untapped potential navigating a historic transition. A cohort of eight South Africans was selected and sent to the University of Washington in Seattle to master the methodology.

2001–Present

Rooted in Our Communities

Formally established as a Section 21 non-profit company, the Foundation adapted the process to township halls, community centers, schools, and boardrooms nationwide—bridging global methodology with local resilience.

History is written by those who act on their potential.

The journey from Seattle to South Africa wasn’t just about bringing a process across the ocean—it was about giving our people a space to reclaim their dignity, speak their worth, and build sustainable futures. Today, that movement continues in every workshop, classroom, and community hall we step into.

This bridges the historical context with an immediate invitation for the reader to become part of the ongoing story, whether they are looking to join a workshop or fund a community cohort.
